Entering into Holy Week and the Theology of Suffering United to the Cross
The retreat will begin on Friday with an 8pm Rosary and Mass. The retreat will conclude Sunday with Mass and noon lunch.
In the sacred journey of Holy Week, we witness the most profound mystery of our faith: God Himself, in the person of Jesus Christ, embracing the depths of human suffering and death. Fr. Michael Zimmer invites you to enter more deeply into these saving mysteries through a retreat that contemplates the breathtaking humility of God made manifest in the Passion of Christ.
This retreat offers a prayerful preparation for Holy Week, guiding participants through the events from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday with fresh eyes and renewed hearts. Through Scripture, meditation, and reflection on the Church’s liturgical tradition, explore how Christ’s willing descent into suffering and death reveals both the heart of God and the meaning of our own crosses.
Fr. Zimmer will unfold the rich theology of redemptive suffering, helping us understand how our own trials, pains, and struggles can be united to Christ’s sacrifice on Calvary. Rather than viewing suffering as meaningless or to be avoided at all costs, discover how it can become a participation in Christ’s saving work and a path to profound spiritual transformation and union with God.
This retreat includes opportunities for Eucharistic Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, daily Mass, the sorrowful mysteries and Stations of the Cross. Whether you are facing personal trials, caring for those who suffer, or seeking to understand the paschal mystery more fully, this retreat offers a space to encounter Christ in His passion and to find hope, healing, and purpose in the shadow of the Cross.
Come behold the humility of God, and discover that in His descent, He lifts us up; in His weakness, we find strength; and in His death, we receive eternal life.
