“The Way” is a healing retreat for survivors of abuse; a three-day guided meditation and prayer experience for anyone whose abuse by another has deeply affected his or her heart, mind, body and soul.
The Way for female survivors of abuse will be held July 18-20, led by Sue Stubbs. (The Way for male survivors of abuse will be held May 30-June 1, led by Kevin Sevcik and Sue Stubbs.)
The retreats are directed by Sue Stubbs, developer of The Way Healing Retreat, and supported by professional counselors, a priest, and volunteers. The Way is a Christian-based retreat, so all men and women of different faith backgrounds are invited and welcomed.
The Way retreats have been offered in the Archdiocese of Atlanta for more than 10 years. The first such retreat hosted by the Nebraska retreat team was in 2019. A participant encouraged those thinking about attending The Way retreat to register.
“I would tell anyone considering attending the retreat to put aside any fears, anxieties or hesitations and attend,” she said. “I would tell them it is well worth the investment of their time and money. The healing that can come from being in fellowship with others who have experienced similar abuse is something rare; something difficult to put into words. The information provided at the retreat and the acceptance of the presenters – as well as the attendees – gives you a safe, unique place to heal.”
