Priest, Prophet, King - Orphan, Stranger, Widow
Redeeming Heartache and Trauma, Lies and Sin
Retreat for Men and Women
with Fr. Adam Sughroue
Recordings include seven talks.
Retreatants will consider how your experiences and traumas have contributed to your identifying with an “orphan,” “stranger,” or “widow” experience. You will reflect on how your responses to past events play out in your life and affect you and your relationships.
Learn to turn that betrayal of an orphan into the faith of a priest, the alienation and powerlessness of a stranger into the truth of a prophet, and the grief of a widow into the love of a king. (Based on resources and podcasts from the Allender Center, where Dr. Dan Allender and Rachael Clinton Chen candidly discuss the deep places of heartache and hope that are rarely addressed in our culture.)
In-person at the Retreat House, the retreats include meditations by the retreat master, the sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation, extended opportunities for silence and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and other devotions.
Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House offers a sanctuary of prayer and recollection on a spacious acreage near Waverly. There are 50 single rooms, each with a private bath.
