Marketing and Ministry Coordinator – Job Description

Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House, Waverly is looking to hire either a full-time or two part-time (15-25 hours per week) positions:

  • Marketing Coordinator: creating and maintaining the digital and print marketing for greater outreach, promotion and fundraising
  • Ministry Coordinator: handling the development and programming of new ministry efforts to youth, young adults, parishes, and other target audiences

The position has flexible hours and a hybrid (work from home) option, with occasional weekend duties. Starting June 2024.  Wage depending on experience.  Full-time includes benefits of health insurance, retirement, and vacation.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Creative and flexible
  • Good computer skills
  • Experience in marketing, graphic design, and video editing preferred
  • Comfortable working with youth and young adults (for Ministry Coordinator)
  • Education in Theology or Spiritual Direction a plus

Marketing Coordinator Duties

Marketing:

  • Social media management: posts, content creation, message interaction
    • Facebook, LinkedIn, Youtube, and Instagram
  • Create tri-monthly email newsletters: schedules, blog post, development news
  • Send target emails to promote upcoming retreats / events 
  • Bi-monthly bulletin announcements to parishes
  • Stay up to date on ways to promote Retreat House, e.g. collaborates with other Diocesan entities to target promotions of retreats or other events
  • Build connections with parishes, secretaries and pastors around the diocese
    • E.g. personal phone calls, periodic emails
  • Collaborate with the Development Director 
    • In efforts to reach donors and continue communication with past retreatants
    • With campaigns, tri-annual appeal mailings, and Annual Report
  • Write press releases for the Southern Nebraska Register about upcoming retreats, programs and other events at the Retreat House
  • Take photos and videos of and around the Retreat House, during retreats and events 
  • Create videos for promotion and fundraising use; create testimonial videos
  • Keep CRM database up to date
  • Update retreat descriptions and other changes to website as needed
  • Continued on-going formation and growth in marketing and promotion
    • E.g. webinars, videos, training

Outreach:

  • Develop new strategies, campaigns and initiative to expand and promote greater awareness of the Retreat House around the Diocese of Lincoln and surround areas, promoting the functions or opportunities at the Retreat House
  • Develop new touchpoints and establish relationships with parishes and schools
  • Establish effective partnerships with external ministries, e.g Ablaze, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Salt + Light Young Adult Community, MHSF
  • Communication about the programs offered at the Retreat House to the above groups

 

Ministry Coordinator Duties

New Program Coordination: expanding the Retreat House outreach to youth, young adults, parishes, and other target audiences 

  • Collaborates with schools, parishes, youth ministers, etc. in scheduling and planning youth and young adult programming, outreach missions, retreats and events
  • Create, design and implement materials and curriculum, content and resources for said spiritual formation programs
  • Executes day-of needs and on the ground coordination of programs, i.e. attends, assists, executes, and leads e.g. coordinate and organize talks, activities, and other functions
  • Assists as needed with hospitality, planning and execution and other functions and programs at the Retreat House
  • Develop creative and engaging ways for families to grow in faith after youth retreats or parish missions

Outreach Initiatives:

  • Provides public speaking, parish programming, prayer ministry, and spiritual direction as needed on the road and within the Retreat House
  • Coordinates with Retreat House Director in implementing new ideas and targeting groups, creating and scheduling spiritually formative content
  • Mobilization of the Retreat House mission: on the road (parish retreats, missions and presentations) expansion to Western Nebraska, and other target groups and areas
  • Coordinates the Ambassador program and its volunteers: equipping, forming, and communicating with them

Administrative Functions:

  • Communicates with schools, youth ministers, parishes regarding all youth retreats and outreach initiatives 
  • Provides administrative support to phone calls and emails regarding youth programming and outreach initiatives
  • Schedules meetings to coordinate with youth ministers, schools, parishes through every step of the process
  • Organization of youth, outreach, and parish event programming
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure facility usage is appropriately scheduled, along with budget / expenses, and thorough communication of program activities
  • Participate in staff meetings, advisory board, and event planning meetings
