Our Lady's Promises and Protection
The Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel
A retreat on the Brown Scapular and Our Lady of Mt Carmel.
Retreat starts Friday with rosary and Mass at 8:00pm, ends Sunday with Mass and Noon lunch.
“Of Mary, one can never say enough,” Father Elias said. “Devotion to Mary is absolutely essential and central to become an imitator of Christ and bring His love to the world.”
The retreat will walk through the sacramental and devotions surrounding Our Lady of Mt. Carmel’s Brown Scapular: what is the scapular, the history of this spiritual weapon, the wearing of the scapular and consecration to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, and the promises of Our Lady’s protection.
Father Elias Mary Mills, F.I. started discerning a religious vocation before graduating from Kearney State College. Attending Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell, Conn., he was introduced to the Franciscans of the Immaculate, and would join the religious order in 1993. He made his final profession of vows in 1999. During the Jubilee Year 2000, Father Elias was ordained a priest by Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz in Lincoln.
As a missionary priest, Father Elias has had many travels promoting devotion to Our Lady in Australia, Italy and across the United States.
In-person at the Retreat House, the retreats include meditations by the retreat master, the sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation, extended opportunities for silence and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and other devotions.
